Human Rights Watch said on 24 February that authorities held protest detainees incommunicado and in unofficial facilities, refused to tell families their fate or whereabouts, and tortured protesters on the streets and in detention. It said it had credible information that Narges Mohammadi, detained since 12 December, was pressured to condemn the protests and beaten at the time of her arrest.
