Matin Gholami

Matin Gholami, 22, was shot dead on 23 April 2026 as a friend drove him home through Andisheh, a town in Shahriar county west of Tehran. According to his family, the car was stopped at what they described as a makeshift checkpoint near Arghavan intersection in Phase 4, with no signs or equipment marking it. They say gunfire was opened on the passenger side without warning, only two minutes from his home. Of the 27 bullets fired, six struck Matin in the shoulder, lung and heart, and his family says there was a delay in getting him to hospital. The second son in a family of four, Matin played the piano and a keyed flute, competed in skating, swimming, football and chess, and hoped to start his own business. His body was returned to his family four days later, and he was buried on 27 April. His third-day memorial fell on 29 April, his birthday.
