Kourosh Keyvani

Kourosh Keyvani was an Iranian-Swedish dual national. He was arrested in June 2025, during the 12-day war, by the intelligence organisation of the Revolutionary Guards at a villa in Savojbolagh county, Alborz province. The authorities accused him of spying for Israel, a case built largely on state-media accounts and confessions that could not be independently verified. A Revolutionary Court sentenced him to death and the Supreme Court upheld the sentence. He was hanged at dawn on 18 March 2026, and sources told Iran International that his family was not informed beforehand. Security agents buried his body in secret on 23 March in Khavaran, outside Tehran. When his family placed stones by the unmarked grave, the authorities removed them so the site could not be identified. Sweden's foreign ministry said his trial did not meet the standards of due process.
