Shahram Sadeghi was arrested in connection with the January 2026 nationwide protests in Karaj. He was executed at Ghezel Hesar Prison on August 16, 2026. State media accused him of driving his car into security forces near Golzar Intersection on the night of January 8, injuring seven officers, then setting the car on fire and hiding at a drug rehabilitation center under a false name. Sadeghi first told interrogators his car had been stolen that night. Weeks later, his “confession,” with his face blurred, was broadcast on state TV before any trial had begun, and rights groups say it was obtained under torture. The Karaj Revolutionary Court sentenced him to death and confiscation of all his property for “operational action in favor of Israel, the United States and hostile groups” under the espionage law, and the Supreme Court upheld the ruling.

Stop the execution of Shahram Sadeghi
Dear Sir or Madam,
I am writing about Shahram Sadeghi, who is held in Qezelhesar Prison in Iran and faces the death penalty (Executed).
I urge you to call on the Iranian authorities to halt this execution at once, quash the death sentence, and grant Shahram Sadeghi a fair retrial without recourse to the death penalty, with a lawyer of their choice and no use of forced confessions.

A death sentence is a status, not a permanent fact about a person. Every case has a check date and a source, and the earlier status is kept. An execution is recorded only with two independent rights-group or news sources, or with an editor’s written reason.
