Erfan Khalili, about 20 years old, was arrested in Mahallat, Markazi Province, during the January 2026 nationwide protests. He is one of five protesters from Mahallat whom a revolutionary court sentenced to death on the charge of moharebeh (“enmity against God”); the others are Ali Akbar Mahlouji, Hessam Isaei, Hossein Shokouhi and Abolghasem Kazem Aslani. The sentence was issued at the trial court level in summer 2026, and the defendants were reportedly given only ten days to appeal. Khalili is being held in Arak Prison. Little else is publicly known about him or his case, including details of his trial or whether he had access to a lawyer. As of the latest reports, his death sentence has not been carried out.

Stop the execution of Erfan Khalili
Dear Sir or Madam,
I am writing about Erfan Khalili, who is held in Arak Prison in Iran and faces the death penalty (Sentenced to death).
I urge you to call on the Iranian authorities to halt this execution at once, quash the death sentence, and grant Erfan Khalili a fair retrial without recourse to the death penalty, with a lawyer of their choice and no use of forced confessions.

Tell us privately. We check every name before it goes on the site, and we never publish who told us.
A death sentence is a status, not a permanent fact about a person. Every case has a check date and a source, and the earlier status is kept. An execution is recorded only with two independent rights-group or news sources, or with an editor’s written reason.
