Hossein Shokouhi is a mine and stone-cutting worker from Mahallat, a city in Iran’s central Markazi province. He was arrested in January 2026 (Dey 1404) during the nationwide protests and was later moved to Arak Prison. In early July 2026, rights groups and Iran International reported that an Islamic Republic court had sentenced him to death on the charge of “moharebeh” (waging war against God). He was tried with four other Mahallat residents: Erfan Khalili, Ali-Akbar Mahlouji, Hesam Issaei and Abolghasem Kazem-Aslani. All five were sentenced to death on the same charge and were reportedly given only 10 days to appeal. In its latest update in September 2026, Iran Human Rights listed his sentence as issued at the initial trial stage, with no report that the Supreme Court has upheld it.

Stop the execution of Hossein Shokouhi
Dear Sir or Madam,
I am writing about Hossein Shokouhi, who is held in Arak Prison in Iran and faces the death penalty (Sentenced to death).
I urge you to call on the Iranian authorities to halt this execution at once, quash the death sentence, and grant Hossein Shokouhi a fair retrial without recourse to the death penalty, with a lawyer of their choice and no use of forced confessions.

Tell us privately. We check every name before it goes on the site, and we never publish who told us.
A death sentence is a status, not a permanent fact about a person. Every case has a check date and a source, and the earlier status is kept. An execution is recorded only with two independent rights-group or news sources, or with an editor’s written reason.
