Their story

Moslem Hassanzehi, 20, was a Baluch laborer from the village of Khajeh Mask near Zahedan, in Sistan and Baluchestan province. He was the son of Abdolhamid and had travelled to Nowshahr, on Iran’s Caspian coast, to work at a construction project. According to the Baluch rights group Haalvsh, he went to a shop near the project site on the evening of Thursday, 15 January 2026, while protests were taking place nearby. As he came out, security forces opened fire, and he was hit by three live rounds in the abdomen and hand. He was taken to hospital in Nowshahr, where he was treated for five days before dying of his injuries on 20 January 2026. His body was returned to Khajeh Mask and buried there. The Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA) lists his case as confirmed, and Iran Human Rights and Iran International have also recorded his death.
