Their story

Yasin Javidan Kohneh Gourabi, 21, was from the village of Aqa Seyyed Sharif near Rasht in Gilan Province and lived in Rasht. According to his social media bio, he described himself as a “soldier of the Imperial Immortal Guard.” He often told friends he would be the only member of the Immortal Guard whose surname was also Javidan, meaning “immortal.” On January 9, 2026 (19 Dey 1404), during the nationwide protests, he was shot in the abdomen with live ammunition in Rasht and died from severe blood loss. Some memorial records list the date as January 8. According to Javidan Iran, authorities pressured his family into signing a statement that he had been a Basij member. At his funeral, relatives and mourners chanted protest slogans. He is buried at Behesht-e Rezvan Cemetery in Rasht. A video later circulated of his mother at his grave, speaking of how much she misses him.
