Fatemeh Ezazi

Fatemeh Aazazi, a 24-year-old dental assistant from Tehran’s Fallah neighborhood, was shot and killed on the evening of January 8, 2026, during the nationwide protests in Iran, according to a report by journalist Nazila Maroofian citing an informed source. A relative who was with her said she was struck in the heart by live ammunition fired by security forces at around 7:30 p.m., about half an hour before a scheduled protest call, while the two were walking home along a street in their neighborhood. The family was reportedly barred from holding a funeral, asked to pay 800 million tomans as a “bullet fee,” and pressured by security officials to identify her as a member of the Basij militia. For weeks it was unclear whether her body had been returned. A photograph of her grave later circulated on social media, indicating that she was eventually buried, though the date and circumstances of the burial have not been independently confirmed. Iranian authorities have not publicly commented on her case. Her name, age, occupation and date of death are also recorded by the Javidan Iran memorial database.
