Their story
Behnam Enayat, born in 1373 (1994–95), was a 31- or 32-year-old single man from Kazerun in Fars province. He chose work over a university place in radiology, ran a fast-food shop and later opened his own kebab shop in Shiraz. People who knew him remember him as kind and generous to anyone in need. According to a memorial post shared online, he had been shot and jailed for three months after the November 2019 protests and remained under pressure from the security services afterwards. He took part in the protests of 8 and 9 January 2026 in Kazerun. Accounts differ on the date and place of his death, which is given as 8, 9 or 10 January. One account says he was killed while driving from Kazerun to his work in Shiraz, when security forces chased his car and opened fire and the car overturned. His family was pressured to say officially that he died in an accident. On 13 February 2026 (24 Bahman 1404), his 40th-day memorial in Kazerun drew a large crowd, who chanted "This flower that fell is a gift to the homeland."
