Their story
Saeed Ebrahimi, 40, was shot dead by government forces in Bandar Anzali, Gilan province, on Friday, 9 January 2026 (19 Dey 1404), during nationwide anti-government protests, according to the Kurdish rights group Hengaw, Iran Human Rights (IHRNGO) and Manoto News. Manoto reported that security forces fired a large number of bullets into his car. According to the documentation site Witness Report, his family received a late-night phone call on 12 January informing them that he was being buried, and was not allowed to hold the customary third- and seventh-day memorial ceremonies. Manoto said the burial took place under heavy security. The family has reportedly faced continued pressure from security agencies not to speak publicly. IHRNGO records him as Saead Ebrahimi Alisaraei.
