روایت جاویدنام مهدی دلخوش؛ دارم میام خونه
طبق نوشته‌های منتشر شده در صفحات اجتماعی خانواده‌ی این جاویدنام، مهدی در مسیر بازگشت از محل کار خود بوده است: «دقیقاً در مسیر برگشت، با کلی خستگیِ کار اما با دلی پر از امید و آرزو، نرسید خونه. هنوز صداش تو گوشمه که گفت: خاله دارم میام خونت… تا همیشه منتظرش می‌مونم که بیاد…» در برخی خبرگزاری‌ها تاریخ جان‌باختن او ۱۹ دی‌ماه ذکر شده است؛ اما براساس نوشته‌های خانواده و همچنین تاریخ درج شده بر سنگ مزارش، مهدی دلخوش در همان شب نخست فراخوان، یعنی ۱۸ دی‌ماه هدف گلوله قرار گرفت و جان باخت. مراسم خاک‌سپاری او در آرامستان پسیخان رشت، زادگاهش، برگزار شد. خانواده‌اش در آیینی نمادین، برای او مراسم عروسی برگزار کردند؛ خنچه‌ی عقد بر سر گرفتند و بر مزارش قند ساییدند. خانواده‌ی داغ‌دار، آرزوهای بر باد رفته‌ی خود برای پسرشان را بر مزار او فریاد زدند؛ آرزوهایی که به دست رژیم جمهوری اسلامی برای همیشه در خاک خاموش شد. متن زیر از صفحه‌ی شخصی این جاویدنام برداشته شده است: «من: فکر می‌کنم دیگر باید قطع امید کنم. آینه: لطفاً صبور باش و ناامید نشو؛ داری به کسی تبدیل می‌شوی که هیچ‌وقت نبودی… من: چقدر؟ چه موقع؟ و خدا گفت: تو خوش‌حال خواهی شد، اما ابتدا تو را قوی خواهم ساخت.»
