Shot by security forces in the leg artery during protests in eastern Tehran. He was taken to Al-Ghadir Hospital, but security forces raided the hospital. His body was found in Kahrizak four days later. His funeral was held without ceremony.

جاویدنام حسین ناصری؛ پدری که خواست فدای جوان‌ها بشود
در جریان اعتراضات دی‌ماه ۱۴۰۴ در ایران، هزاران نفر کشته شدند؛ بسیاری از آنان با گلوله‌های جنگی نیروهای امنیتی جان باختند. حسین ناصری، متولد ۱۳۳۱، پیش از پیوستن به اعتراضات ۱۹ دی‌ماه به اطرافیانش گفته بود: «از امنیت و رفاه فرزندانم خیالم راحت است و مهم نیست چه بر سرم بیاید. به اعتراضات می‌روم برای آینده بهتر نسل بعد.» او در پاسخ به کسانی که خواسته بودند برای در امان ماندن از ماموران ماسک بزند، گفته بود: «من فدای شما جوان‌ها بشوم.» ناصری در دومین شب حضورش در اعتراضات هدف شلیک مستقیم قرار گرفت و گلوله به شاهرگ پایش اصابت کرد. افرادی که در محل حضور داشتند، او را با خودرو به بیمارستان الغدیر تهران منتقل کردند و به گفته منابع آگاه، او در زمان انتقال همچنان زنده بود. طبق روایت‌های رسیده به ایران‌اینترنشنال، هم‌زمان با انتقال مجروحان به بیمارستان الغدیر، نیروهای امنیتی به بیمارستان یورش بردند و فردی که حسین را به بیمارستان رسانده بود، مجبور به ترک محل و فرار شد. چهار روز بعد، همسر ناصری به تنهایی پیکر او را در کهریزک پیدا کرد. به گفته نزدیکان خانواده، او بدون برگزاری مراسم و خاک‌سپاری معمول به خاک سپرده شد؛ در حالی که دو فرزندش در خارج از ایران، از سرنوشت پدرشان بی‌اطلاع بودند.
