Ali Shirmohammadi, 30, was shot and killed in Ardabil, in northwestern Iran, on the evening of Friday, January 9, 2026 (19 Dey 1404), during the nationwide anti-government protests, according to IranWire. He was single and worked in construction, in building composites. IranWire reported that security forces fired on him near Moallem Park in Ardabil, and a single bullet struck him just below his right shoulder blade. His body was released to his family in the early hours of January 14 and buried before dawn. A few days after the burial, the family was told that his name had been entered on the official list of “martyrs.” According to IranWire, the family had no part in that decision. HRANA lists him among the confirmed victims from Ardabil.
