Their story

Abbas Aminzadeh, 43, was killed in Sedeh Lenjan, Isfahan province, during the nationwide anti-government protests of January 2026. The Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA) and Iran Human Rights (IHRNGO) record his death on Thursday, 8 January 2026 (18 Dey 1404); HRANA lists his case as confirmed. The rights group Hengaw reported that he was killed by direct gunfire and dates his death to 9 January. According to accounts from people close to him, Aminzadeh spent the protests helping others and carrying wounded protesters to safety without any protective equipment. Those accounts say he was unarmed and tried to defuse the confrontation outside the Sedeh Lenjan police station, calling out to the station chief: “Come down, we have no business with you.” The same accounts say he was then shot directly by Karimian, the former head of the station. The bullet struck him below the armpit and entered his lung, causing severe internal bleeding.
