Their story

Milad Vahidsoula was 28 years old and came from Astara, the border town on the Caspian coast of Gilan province. He was the youngest of six children. At about twenty he moved to Tehran for work and opened a clothing shop in one of the city's bazaars. Relatives described him as polite and quick to laugh, and said he was the person his family relied on, both financially and emotionally. He was unmarried. Every year he made a pilgrimage to Mashhad, and during Muharram he set up a stall to hand out food. He was shot dead in Tehran on 10 January 2026 (20 Dey 1404), during the crackdown on the protests. Relatives told a local outlet he was on his way home after closing his shop. Accounts conflict over who fired the shot. He was buried in Astara on 15 January.
