Their story

Vahid Eghbali Ghahyazi, 52, was a teacher in Tehran and the father of two daughters. He graduated in economics from Shahid Beheshti University. For years he taught accounting to students preparing for Iran’s university entrance exam (konkur) and wrote study books for the Ghalamchi educational institute. Memorial posts describe him as a teacher deeply devoted to his 16- to 18-year-old students and their futures. On Thursday, January 8, 2026 (18 Dey 1404), during the nationwide protests, he was killed by a direct gunshot to the side in the Ashrafi Esfahani area of Tehran. HRANA has confirmed his death, and his name appears on the list of the dead published by the Iranian government.
